Pharmacy Partnership & Ownership Opportunities
Succession and growth don’t have to mean selling up. Whether you’re planning your exit over the next few years or want a working partner to share the load now, the right pharmacist can become part of the future of your pharmacy — not just an employee in it.
Matching owners with the right partner
We introduce owners to pharmacists actively seeking a working partnership, buy-in, or a structured pathway to ownership. Because we already know our candidates, we can align on the things that matter — values, work ethic, community fit and long-term intent — not just the numbers.
Confidential by default
Succession conversations are sensitive. We handle partnership matching discreetly, so you can explore options without unsettling your team, your customers or your suppliers before you’re ready.
A pathway, not just a transaction
The strongest partnerships are built gradually. We can start someone as a permanent pharmacist with a view to partnership, giving both sides time to be sure before any buy-in — the same retention-first approach behind all our permanent placements.

Three working partnerships, open now
We have three pharmacy working partnerships open — two in the Bundaberg region of Queensland and one in the Macedon Ranges in Victoria. Each one is a genuine equity opportunity for a registered pharmacist who wants to own and run a business, not a passive investment.
Two are established pharmacies with full teams already in place: you step in as managing pharmacist and take over a going concern. The third is a brand new site being built in Bargara, where you would come in from fit-out and build it yourself.
Bundaberg, Queensland
Turnover $2.5–3.5m · around 160–190 scripts a day · established, team in place · lowest buy-in of the three
A discount-banner store competing on price and volume. It is the smallest of the three, which makes it the most accessible way into ownership on this list and the one with the most room to grow.
Bundaberg is a regional city of 74,000 four and a half hours north of Brisbane, with a base hospital, two private hospitals, a CQUniversity campus, an airport with Brisbane flights, and the coast twenty minutes away.
Suits a pharmacist who wants the lowest cost of entry and room to build something.
Bargara, Queensland
New site · greenfield build, site secured · you come in from fit-out
This one is different from the other two. It is a greenfield build — the site is secured and the pharmacy does not exist yet. You would come in from fit-out: layout, workflow, ranging, and hiring your own team from the first person. Nobody else’s habits to inherit and nobody else’s decisions to undo.
Bargara is a beachside town of 9,000, thirteen kilometres east of Bundaberg, with two swimming and surf beaches, a golf course dating to 1924, and the Mon Repos turtle rookery up the road.
Suits a pharmacist who would rather build their own than inherit someone else’s, and wants the coast while they do it.
Macedon Ranges, Victoria
Turnover $5.5–6.5m · around 250–290 scripts a day · up 27% year on year · established, team in place
The growth story of the three. Turnover is up more than a quarter on last year with script and customer counts both rising, and the wage line is lean — the team knows what it is doing and needs leading, not rebuilding.
The Macedon Ranges sit about an hour north-west of Melbourne on the Calder, or a direct V/Line run to Southern Cross — one of the few genuinely regional opportunities you can take without leaving the city behind. Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon, wineries and a monthly farmers’ market.
Suits a pharmacist who wants momentum already underway and Melbourne still in reach.
How the partnership works
All three are open on the same two routes, depending on where you are up to:
- Equity purchase. You buy in as a shareholder from the outset and run the pharmacy as managing pharmacist and partner.
- Pathway to equity. You start as managing pharmacist on a salaried basis under a structured, contracted path to acquiring equity over an agreed period.
Either way this is a working partnership. We are looking for pharmacists who want to be behind the counter, leading the team, and across the business.
What sits behind them
None of these pharmacies stands on its own. All three operate inside the Apex Pharmacy Management shared-services model alongside a national group of independent pharmacies, with central support across buying, pricing, marketing, payroll, compliance and monthly business reporting, and a dedicated Pharmacy Business Manager on the ground in each state. You would be running your own pharmacy with a head office behind you.
What you need
Current AHPRA registration as a pharmacist, and a genuine willingness to live regionally. Capital helps but is not essential — the salaried pathway exists for people who are not there yet.
